8月31日讯多家媒体确认，桑乔即将租借加盟切尔西，蓝军只要联赛排名高于14，就将激活买断条款。有媒体“挖坟”了桑乔昔日的采访，球员曾表示自己从小就是切尔西球迷。

在接受talkSPORT采访时，桑乔曾表示：“我从小就是切尔西球迷。我不会说谎的。德罗巴和兰帕德是我当时最喜欢的球员。我就是爱兰帕德和他踢球的风格。”
